Animated film Explains Fatima to Young People

“Fatima, a Breath of the Spirit” is the title of the new animated film that tells the story and the event of Fatima to young people.

The Shrine of Fatima premiered today on its social networks the film “Fatima, a Breath of the Spirit”, an animation of about five minutes that tells the event of Fatima and makes known the Message that Our Lady left in Cova da Iria, during the apparitions of 1917.

“It all begins with a rushing wind sweeping across Europe and shaking the world. But in the midst of this wind, a thin thread of silence, like a breath of the Spirit...”, is heard in the first seconds of the film, which was produced to welcome the young people who will be pilgrimaging to Fatima during the World Youth Day in Lisbon (WYD Lisbon 2023).

The narrative of the animated film, produced by Terra Filmes, under the direction of Miguel Cardoso and coordinated by the Shrine of Fatima, has been adapted for young audiences and begins by contextualising the historical period of the first quarter of the 20th century, and then presents the angelic and Marian apparitions of Fatima, highlighting the essential points of the message that Our Lady bequeathed to the Little Shepherds, whose biographies are also presented.

The film ends by pointing out the message of Fatima as “a living and current word”, inviting the viewer “to look at the events of history with the gaze of God, (...) to listen to the Gospel of Jesus and to walk with him,” in order to become “a sign of unity and an icon of a pilgrim people on a path of hope and peace”.

The film can be seen on the social networks of the Shrine of Fatima, YouTube and Facebook, and is also available, in Portuguese and English, in the “Know” menu of the website https://jmj2023.fatima.pt/en, created by the Shrine to welcome the young people who will come to live Fatima at WYD Lisbon 2023.

Over the next few weeks, the animated film will be shown in the foyer of the Paul VI Pastoral Centre and on the screens of the Prayer Area of the Shrine of Fatima, before and after the 11:00 and 15:00 Masses.
