21 july, 2011

In conjunction with the International Pilgrimage of August 12/13 there is held on that same date the Migrant’s Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Fatima, an initiative of the Portuguese Catholic Work for Migration (OCPM), integrated in the 39th National Week of Migration, August 6 thru 14.
Presiding over the pilgrimage is the Most Rev. Arlindo Gomes Furtado, Bishop of Santiago, Cape Verde.
We read in its official Internet page the following exhortation by OCPM: “Each year, a specific community of migrants or the Portuguese community of a certain country is placed as the special intention of the pilgrimage. This year, we want to highlight the immigrant community from Cape Verde, which is strongly present in Portugal. That is why we are appealing to a massive participation of all Cape Verde immigrants in the Pilgrimage”.
The Vigil Mass of the 12th, celebrated in the Outdoor Altar immediately after the 21h30 Rosary, is presided over by the Most Rev. António Vitalino Dantas, Bishop of Beja and President of the Bishops Commission for Human Mobility.
On the morning of the 13th, the 10h00 Mass is presided over by Bishop Furtado.
