Shrine of Fatima broadcasts program of the
First Saturdays Devotion on its webpage

The Shrine of Fatima live broadcasts, on the official webpage of the Shrine of Fatima, the program of the celebration of the first Saturdays Devotion, which happens on every first Saturday of the month, throughout the year.

The online broadcast, available at www.fatima.pt will include three moments: the Mass, celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity; the act of Reparation of the Immaculate to Heart of Mary with recitation of the Rosary and 15 minutes of company to Our Lady, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Apparitions; and the Eucharistic meditation and adoration, in the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, from 3:00 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The First Saturdays Devotion, which targets an experience of comforting prayer and reparatory to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was announced by Our Lady to the Little Shepherds, in the Apparition of 13th of July 1917, and later untrusted to Seer Lucia in Tuy and Pontevedra, Spain, in the Apparition of 10th December 1925, as mentioned in “Sister Lucia’s Memoirs”.

“Afterwards, said to Blessed Virgin: “Look, my daughter, at my My Heart encircled by thorns with which at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. At least, you try to console Me and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to Me.”

In the persistent request of reparation in the event of Fatima, the First Saturdays Devotion appears as a way to achieve it, wherefore one of the conditions for the fulfillment of this devotion is the practice of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The Bishop of Leiria approved this devotion on the 13th of September 1939, in Fatima.
